#WeMissYouIslay: everyone has an Islay story to tell

Well, Islay’s most iconic occasion is here once more and, for the second year in a row, The Islay Festival of Music and Malt is going to be a virtual celebration again.

In the absence of the usual festivities we all enjoy so much at the end of May, we at the Character of Islay Whisky Company have decided that we’re going to champion what we’ve got, not bemoan what we’ve lost. By doing what we love mist: tell stories.

Except we’re going about our humble project a little differently. While we relish being the storyteller, any true lover of tales also longs to hear the stories of others. And seeing as we want to connect fellow Islay whisky lovers and friends, we’ve come up with an idea to give you a space to remember and live vicariously through your memories.

Hence the #WeMissYouIslay campaign. It’s a handwritten postcard service, so you can send a message to a special whisky friend. It doesn’t have to be about Islay or even whisky specific... we just want to help you share the moments that mattered to you.

Did you see a particularly rad seal that you got to feed a fish to? Make a friend for life in a tent listening to a local band play the rhythm and booze blues? The only rule is: no regrets. You weren’t an idiot for not bringing a good coat. Getting drenched is all part of the experience.

And we also want you to share in the joy of others’ memories. This is why we’ll be posting all of them here across the next month. We’ll even pick out our favourite stories and five lucky people could get their hands on a Character of Islay tasting set.

Don’t forget to use the #WeMissYouIslay so we can see your tale. We can’t wait to read them. Here’s to the storytellers!
