Our first Fireside Sessions event was a great success…. See for yourself! We recorded the whole Bonfire Night Drams
In a year where alternative Bonfire Night plans were more important than ever, we decided to put together an evening of delicious Islay whisky and great company which basically turned out to be a great big whisky love-in, for absolutely free. And it was the cosiest virtual event of the year!
For those who missed it, at 8pm on the 5th November we invited you to head to our @CharacterofIslay Facebook or YouTube page to join us for Bonfire Night Drams.
Our host, Dr Whisky, aka Sam Simmons, welcomed esteemed guests and viewers around the virtual campfire for drams and a lesson on how to make the perfect smoky Hot Toddy with the wonderful Tammy Jackson (@forcocktailsake).
And for said cocktail, we did the decent thing and made sure when you purchase a bottle of the warming, sweet and delightful Aerolite Lyndsay you get our signature enamel mug and a wee postcard from Islay. Because you can't have a Hot Toddy with just any old booze in any old glass... Marshmallows are optional but highly recommended.
With an incredible guest list that included Gemma Paterson, Global Ambassador for The Balvenie, Freddie Johnson from Buffalo Trace, Dr Nicholas Morgan from Diageo, John Campbell, Distillery Manager of Laphroaig, Andrew Weir, the US brand lead for Aberlour, Dave Broom and Charlie Maclean, tales were told, laughs were had, and stories were swapped before Cat Spencer from The Whisky Band concluded the evening with some fireside music.
